Our Founder

S. Faye Snyder, PsyD, is the originator of the Causal Theory, affectionately known at PaRC as The Theory. This parenting theory is the only comprehensive theory of developmental psychology in the field of psychology. Dr. Snyder specializes in the origins and treatment of all pathology and behavioral issues that originate in childhood trauma. Dr. Faye, as she likes to be called, is a licensed marriage and family therapist (MFC #29816) with a doctorate in psychology. She is the clinical director of PaRC and former part-time professor at California State University, Northridge. Dr. Faye founded The Parenting and Relationship Counseling Foundation, formally known as The Institute for Professional Parenting, in 1988 and formulated the parenting series with both professionals and parents in mind. Dr. Faye’s theory, the Causal Theory, is based upon the premise of experiential and environmental cause and effect in creating temperament, personality, character, drives, behavioral and interaction patterns.

Dr. Faye received her BA in Political Science from the State University of New York at Stony Book and spent one year doing graduate work in sociology at New York University. She received her master’s degree in family therapy from California Graduate Institute in Westwood and her doctorate in psychology from Ryokan College of Psychology, Los Angeles. However, Dr. Faye maintains that her real credentials come from the wisdom anyone achieves from transcending a difficult childhood. Dr. Faye is happily married to Ron Snyder, and together they have raised their own miracle child, Scott Clifton. Scott is an accomplished actor on network television, having played Dillon on General Hospital, Schuyler on One Life to Live and Liam on The Bold and the Beautiful. He has been nominated five times for a Daytime Emmy and in 2011 won the award for best supporting actor. He is also a talented singer/songwriter and debater with more than 20,000 subscribers on his blog and occasionally teaches at PaRC.
